Collections

You know what you have. We will price it accordingly.

A written valuation with a figure against every firearm, not a wave of the hand at a pile of guns and a single number.

Why a list matters

In most collections a handful of pieces carry most of the money, and a single total tells you nothing about which. Every firearm gets written down with a value against it, priced on condition, configuration and originality. On the ones that carry the money we will show you what comparable examples actually sold for.

Where we pay well, and where we do not

We are straight about this because you will find out anyway. We pay strongly on material we know moves: quality sporting arms, collectible American manufacture, military surplus with honest provenance, and anything unusual enough to be worth finding the right buyer for.

We pay ordinary money for ordinary modern guns, because that is what they are worth. If three common polymer pistols are most of what you have, we will tell you that rather than dress it up.

Selling all of it, or some of it

Most collectors keep something. Tell us what is not for sale and we will price around it — there is no discount for breaking up a collection and no pressure to include the one you were never really going to part with.

If auction would serve you better, we will say so

Some pieces genuinely do better in front of competing bidders than in a dealer's offer. If what you have is that kind of material, we will tell you — and you can consign it rather than sell it to us.

The pieces that usually justify waiting: early or first-year production, unusual factory configurations, short-run variants, anything from a maker who has stopped producing, and guns in genuinely exceptional original condition. The pieces that usually do not: good, ordinary, well-made guns produced in quantity and still easy to buy. Those sell perfectly well outright, and waiting gains very little.

Splitting a collection across routes

There is no requirement to treat a collection as one decision. The most common arrangement we set up is an outright price for the bulk of it, consignment on the two or three pieces where the top of the market is worth waiting for, and store trade credit toward whatever you actually want next. We price all three so the difference is visible before you commit to anything.

Selling part of it and keeping the rest

Entirely normal, and there is no penalty for it. Tell us what is not for sale and we will price around it. Nobody is going to talk you out of keeping the shotgun you learned on.

What we will not do

We will not give you a single lump-sum figure and decline to break it down. We will not take possession of anything before a price is agreed. The price we agree is the price we pay. And if you have something genuinely good, you will hear it from us.

Three ways to get paid

We price all three so you can see the difference and pick the one that suits you — and you can split a collection across them.

Cash is the lowest number and we’ll say so plainly — we’re taking on the money, the risk, and however long it takes to sell. Trade credit is worth the most because it is not limited to a shelf: we can order new, and source through distributors, other dealers and auctions, so it goes toward whatever you actually want rather than whatever happens to be in stock.
